How to clean your garage with ease
It’s time to clean your garage floor. Here’s how to do it with a powered option.
Problem Solved
It’s time to clean your garage floor. With all the traffic that goes through there, there’s bound to be dirt, debris, dead bugs and more grime on the floors and tucked in the crevices.
Dirt and debris love to hide, so the best way to clean your garage is to get it as empty as you can. This means moving any vehicles, bikes, trash cans and other large, easily movable items. Next, pick up and dispose of any large pieces of trash that shouldn’t be swept outside or won’t vacuum up easily.

Garage clean out
Start by removing the loose debris from your garage, but be mindful of trash and similar debris that shouldn’t be left outside. Save your back, ditch the broom and manual sweeping and go for a powered option instead.
A wet and dry vac is a great way to get the job done. Many of them work as a multi-tool with the ability to vacuum and blow. You can blow the debris either out of the garage or into a pile, then vacuum it up.
If you’re trying to tackle stains or marks on the garage floor, you will need a bit of elbow grease. Use a brush head on a long handle, dipped into a mix of dish liquid and warm water. You can also spot treat specific stains using Dawn Powerwash. Rinse with clean water, then use the wet vac to clean up.
If you need a bit more torque than your elbow grease provides, check out scrubbing attachment heads for your power tools.
Tools to help you park in a tight garage
Is it a tight squeeze to get your car in the garage with enough room to get out of the driver’s seat and close the garage door behind you? Here are some easy ways to help you park perfectly every time.
- Hang a ball on a string. Position the ball so it touches your front or rear windshield (depending on whether you drive or reverse into your garage), so you’ll know when to stop.
- Install a laser parking assistant. Position the laser so it lands on a designated spot on your dashboard to tell you when you’ve hit your mark. These tools can also be used when parking two cars in the garage.
- Place parking blocks. Place small parking blocks where you want your front wheels to stop.
