For those looking for an hourly job, Walmart just revealed its sweetest gig.
Outside of manager roles, cake decorators are the highest paid hourly positions at U.S. Walmart stores, the retail giant confirmed with USA TODAY on Wednesday, June 11.
With an average pay of $19.25 an hour, more than 6,000 cake decorators across the nation bring beauty to the store chain’s beloved pastries.
In addition to decorating cakes and cupcakes, the job also involves ordering products and utilizing edible cake imaging, according to a Walmart. The company said it decorates over 150,000 cakes a week across stores adding that the chain sees a peak in orders during graduation season.
Walmart said it also embraces research and creativity by encouraging staff to find trends. The company highlights 36-year-old New Jersey decorator Melissa Fernandez, who garnered nearly half a million views on TikTok showcasing her cake designs.
Fernandez said she makes around $24.40 an hour after working at Walmart for 11 years, according to the Associated Press.
“I love baking at home. I love painting,” Fernandez told the outlet. “I love doing anything artistic, and I just always wanted to be a part of it.”
