The final preparations are underway for the 49th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks special for a night of dazzling pyrotechnics across New York City’s skyline, with a star-studded lineup of live performances by country artists, rockers, a Broadway star and guest appearances.

Airing on NBC starting at 8 p.m. ET, Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose will host the fireworks celebration, with performances by the Jonas Brothers, Ava Max, Lenny Kravitz, Keke Palmer, Eric Church and Trisha Yearwood. Billed as a “one-of-a-kind” show that can be seen in the city at designated areas only, the fireworks will be set to a 25-minute musical score produced by The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and James Poyser.

What time does Macy’s July 4th fireworks show start?

The two-hour Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks event will be broadcast and streamed live on July 4 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. Find your local NBC channel to watch the two-hour live broadcast, which will also simulcast live on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. An encore presentation of the special will air at 10 p.m. on NBC. Telemundo is also airing a telecast of the celebrations from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET (You can find your local Telemundo channel here).

What type of fireworks will be on display?

According to Macy’s, more than 80,000 shells in 30 colors and special effects will be shot into NYC’s night sky. Fireworks to include crackling crown jellyfish, atomic rings, yellow & green sunbursts, strobing lemon cascades and comet fans.

Where are the Macy’s fireworks this year?

The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks returns to the East River for 2025 after the show was held on the Hudson River in 2024. The nation’s largest July 4th fireworks show, according to Macy’s, will fire from the Brooklyn Bridge and four barges positioned on the lower East River in the Seaport District, between Pier 17 and the Downtown Manhattan Heliport.

Other viewing areas include:

  • Montgomery Street at Madison Street
  • Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place and Brooklyn Bridge off/on ramps
  • Broad Street at Water Street
  • Viewing for those with special needs will be available at the Murry Bergtraum Softball Field, with access at Poke Slip and Cherry Street.

For safety reasons, several items are not permitted while viewing Macy’s fireworks. This includes: alcohol, backpacks, blankets, cigarettes, drones, duffle bags, e-cigarettes, large bags, large coolers, large packages, lawn chairs, motorized scooters, umbrellas, and weapons.
