Video shows baby bison shake off the ‘zoomies’ at Yellowstone

Bison, like other animals, have to “Shake It Off” every once in a while, especially when the “zoomies” hit.

Several baby bison were recently spotted running off the sudden burst of energy, chasing each other and darting between the adult bison, in Lamar Valley, a well-known lookout point at Yellowstone National Park.

According to the National Park Service, the bison population, made up of thousands of individuals (young and old), is allowed to roam relatively freely over the expansive landscape of Yellowstone National Park and some nearby areas of Montana.

Baby bison appeared to have a blast chasing each other, as they got zoomies in Yellowstone National Park.

A pair of baby bison is seen, throughout the 30-second clip, galloping at full speed towards the herd before falling back as soon as they run out of energy. The adult bison, on the other hand, continued to graze without so much as batting an eye.

“The baby bison get the zoomies a lot, that’s what we call it here,” Cindy Shaffer, who documented the moment on video, told Storyful. “They start running really fast and don’t know when to stop, they are learning. It’s very fun to watch.”

Shaffer, a Montana native and employee at the nearby Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, regularly posts content about the park.
