How do you rank the final four quarterbacks in the NFL playoffs?
Former NFL stars rank the remaining quarterbacks in the NFL playoffs as they prepare to face off on Conference Championship weekend.
Sports Seriously
The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders split their season series in 2024. They are now set for a rubber match in the NFC championship game with a trip to Super Bowl 59 on the line.
The Eagles were widely expected to be one of the best teams in the NFC during the 2024 season. They didn’t disappoint, earning the conference’s No. 2 seed with a 14-3 record while seeing marquee free agent signing Saquon Barkley become the NFL’s ninth-ever 2,000-yard rusher.
The Commanders have been much more of a surprise. They finished the 2023 NFL season as one of the league’s worst teams with a mark of 4-13. However, the combination of new head coach Dan Quinn and No. 2 overall pick, quarterback Jayden Daniels, allowed Washington to execute an unexpectedly quick turnaround.
The Commanders went 12-5 to earn the second wild card in the NFC. They earned seeding upsets over both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions thanks to Quinn’s aggressiveness and Daniels’ steady-but-explosive playmaking abilities to put the franchise on the verge of its first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s postseason performance hasn’t been quite as convincing as Washington’s. Their defense has typically held up well, allowing just 16 points per game to the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers, while Jalen Hurts has struggled at times under pressure. He is also dealing with a knee injury that could impact his mobility in the NFC championship game.
Nonetheless, the Eagles are armed with a top-five scoring defense while Barkley enjoyed immense success against the Commanders during the regular season. That’s why many expect Nick Sirianni’s squad will have the advantage and be positioned to end Quinn and Daniels’ Cinderella run.
