Saquon Barkley is a force of nature.
After the Commanders had a 54-yard, 18-play field goal drive to open the NFC championship game, Barkley and the Eagles responded with a touchdown in just one play. Philadelphia’s lead running back took a pitch on his team’s first offensive play of the game and took it 60 yards to the house, breaking through several arm tackles along the way.
After kicker Jake Elliott converted on the PAT, the Eagles lead 7-3 with 7:39 left in the first quarter.
The Commanders took over on their own 27-yard line to begin their next possession and faced a deficit for the first time in the NFC title game. They fumbled and turned the ball over four plays later.
Barkley capped off the Eagles’ second possession with another touchdown run. The second trip to the end zone was of the more modest variety from the four-yard line.
